How can hydrogen combustion and solid oxide fuel cells contribute to future aircraft propulsion?
At the EASN – European Aerospace Science Network 16th International Conference in Toulouse, Arvind Gangoli Rao from Delft University of Technology presented HOPE’s work on a novel kerosene–hydrogen multi-fuel combustor during the dynamic panel discussion “State of the art for H2-air combustion & SOFC”.
The session brought together HOPE Horizon Europe project, FlyECO Project and HESTIA Project, with Georgios Bampanis from CINEA – European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency leading the discussion. The three projects offered complementary perspectives on multi-fuel #combustion, #hydrogen combustion in aeroengines, and the integration of hydrogen gas turbines with solid oxide #fuelcells.
The open discussion provided an opportunity to compare approaches and discuss the challenges these technologies face on the path towards aviation applications.
Thank you to the speakers and participants for the exchange.
