#HOPE has kicked off! The consortium of Delft University of Technology, Chalmers University of Technology, Bauhaus Luftfahrt, Ergon Research, Hit09 Srl and The Manchester Metropolitan University has met in Delft on 30-31 March for the official kick-off of the project. The two-day meeting was participated also by Safran, Airbus, RIVM National Institute for Public Health and the Environment and EUROCONTROL. The consortium partners and advisors discussed the activities that will be carried out in the next 46 months.
#HOPE has the ambitious goal of delivering an integrated propulsion system based on ultra-high bypass ratio turbofan engines + fuel-cell-based boundary layer ingestion propeller. In addition, the gas turbine combustor will be able to burn simultaneously kero//SAF and hydrogen, so as to minimize both CO2 and non-CO2 emissions throughout the entire flight, while abating also noise.

HOPE is co-funded under the #HorizonEurope topic HORIZON-CL5-2022-D5-01-12 (Towards a silent and ultra-low local air pollution aircraft) under GA n° 101096275. The support of the CINEA – European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency is gratefully acknowledged.
