In the last 12 months, WP2 has achieved many remarkable goals. Without disclosing too many details, the most important achievements are reported here below:
- Validation of #CFD simulations on the APPU rig operated with 100% H2 and assessment of possible test rig modifications to realize #multifuel kero + H2 combustion (we published a paper at ICAS 2024).
- Upgrade of the existing test rig to improve cold and reactive testing (including multi-fuel #combustion), realizing a new kero feeding system and addressing sealing and ignition issues.
- Set up new optical measurement techniques for spray and flow #visualization.
- Design, prototyping and testing of the new multi-fuel kero + H2 combustion system, testing the effect of different concepts, Axial Air Injection, #Hydrogen Power Share and confinement ratio.
- Preparation of a #patent for the novel multi-fuel combustion system.
- Design of a new test rig for pressurized testing
