We are pleased to share a recent scientific publication resulting from the activities of WP2 of the HOPE Horizon Europe project:
🔥 Simulation of a Multi-fuel Kerosene-Hydrogen Burner with Modified Thickened Flame Model🔥
Authors: Lorenzo Palanti, Lorenzo Mazzei, Cosimo Bianchini, Alam Uziel Garcidueñas Correa, Kaushal Dave, Arvind Gangoli Rao and Francesca De Domenico.
The paper presents a numerical investigation of the HOPE multi-fuel combustor, focusing on the application of a Modified Thickened Flame Model (TFM) to simulate combustion processes in a burner operating with both kerosene and hydrogen. These activities support the development of fuel-flexible combustion technologies capable of enabling the progressive transition towards lower-emission aviation propulsion systems.
The work is the result of the collaboration between Ergon Research, Delft University of Technology within WP2, dedicated to combustion system development, experimental characterization, and numerical modelling.
📚 The paper is published in the book:
Sustainable Aviation: Proceedings of the Vienna Aviation Days 2025
which collects selected contributions presented during the Vienna Aviation Days 2025, bringing together research advances addressing the technological challenges of sustainable aviation.
